Wan and I both had a great time in Singapore. It is a unique place. I don’t know why we did not go sooner. Our good friend, Ralph, took great care of us, and made sure we saw the top attractions and found some of the best places to eat.

It is down past the Funky Monkey Guest House on the left. It just opened recently, so it may be cleaner than your average guest house.

I even got soaked on foot, out for an evening walk. But, it is all in good fun. I din’t get any good photos of the water being flung about today because I had my camera and other gear inside a ziplock bag. Lots of fireworks going off as well, even as I write this at 3 o’clock in the morning. The festival will officially continue until the 15th.

Today all 12 villages in our tambon had a parade & beauty contest. And the makeshift beachfront was packed. Wan’s daughter and son-in-law are running one of the makeshift restaurants set up for the Songkran festival, and today they were packing them in.

Why dine "by the river", when you can dine "in the river"?

Dancing

All 12 villages in our tambon participated in the parade

Some of the more prosperous villages featured truck mounted musical ensembles

Each village featured a contestant in the beauty contest

Wan toiling over a hot fire, grilling pork collar.

Smoky and delicious!

Keep the birthday cake. I will take the pork.

The grilled squid were also a big hit.
